    Stella Adler (February 10, 1901 – December 21, 1992) was an American actress and acting teacher. She was born into one of the most famous acting families of New York’s Yiddish theater scene. Adler shifted from acting to producing, directing, and teaching, and founded the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City in 1949. She was known for her understanding of Method acting and tutored performers in this technique. Some of her most famous students included Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, and Warren Beatty.
